Access to Work for Persons with Disabilities: Discussion
2:00 am
Ms Marie Killeen:
From our own experience in Clare, we work closely with the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. We know the team well and we work all the time figuring it out on a person-by-person basis because every person who comes in our door has a different disability and is on a different pathway to employment. We work closely with them to figure it out. There are fantastic courses there. They are free and accessible. We work closely with getting the person to understand that they do not have to go from A to Z immediately. There is a pathway. It is about building hope and figuring out that a person can get training that will build them up to get where they want to. Sometimes it is the case that this is what they want. Sometimes they just want to start in employment and they are ready.
