National Broadband Plan and Network Resilience: National Broadband Ireland

2:00 am

Mr. T.J. Malone:

I will give the top-line figures and Ms Fisher will give the others. To date, in subsidy from the Department, we have received €1.3 billion and there is a cap of €2.6 billion on that. That means there is €2.1 billion, with a further contingent subsidy. There is a difference between contingent subsidy and contingency. Contingent subsidy was put in for areas of risk that we did not know at the time what they might be but it was always meant to be drawn on or given back, either way. There is €500 million in that pot of which we have probably drawn 5% so far. To recap, it €1.3 billion to date and €2.1 billion to €2.6 billion is the cap over 25 years. Ms Fisher will talk about Carlow and Kilkenny.
