What standards are being set if nursing homes are the subject of reports such as the one broadcast by RTÉ? Does HIQA have enforcement powers? What is happening? Nobody is running scared of the fact that HIQA is going to carry out inspections. That is because nothing happens and there is no enforcement after HIQA staff visit a nursing home and find that it is not compliant.
