If there is an issue on a building site, the Health and Safety Authority has powers of immediate intervention, as does the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. From HIQA, I hear a very slow pace of reaction on foot of an immediate and very serious risk to patient safety. The non-compliance with fire standards did not just happen yesterday or last week. It has been there for a period.
