Pain units tend to be located in hospital settings, but there are also some units in palliative care units like Marymount in Cork where we have a theatre. It tends to be a subset of anaesthetic care usually provided in a hospital setting but strongly linked to palliative care. Local injury units are located on specific sites such as Gurranebraher and elsewhere. They provide care from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for defined clinical incidents up to a certain threshold.
