In the UK, there is a combination of databases. The main reference database is the police national database, which is a database of custody images. These are images recorded essentially when an individual comes into contact with the police irrespective of whether he or she is prosecuted successfully or convicted. It is any initial custody image. That contains about 19 million to 21 million images.
