There have definitely been cases where people have been wrongly identified or misidentified and brought in for questioning and detained. There have been several cases in the US. Six cases involved all black people - five black men and one black women. There have also been cases in Argentina. I do not think one man was convicted but he was detained for several days even though he lived hundreds of miles away from the crime that was committed.
