All morning, we have identified problems, such as those relating to the eight or nine complaints that took between four and five years, the number of complaints coming in and the timeline to deal with them. I understand the process takes time. There are things that cannot be rushed and it takes time to get information and evidence and all that, but it is clear this is a fundamental problem at the heart of GSOC and the process. There is a new Act but it will not be worth the paper it is written on if the tools to implement it are not provided. It is not fair to GSOC, gardaí who have complaints against them or members of the public who are trying to get a decision and an outcome. It is really important that we address this issue. I ask that it be raised at senior level in the Department and that the Department responds to us on it as soon as it can.
