The project commenced about two and a half years ago so the work the committee is doing, which we very much welcome, was somewhat distant. The committee that was engaged in the drafting work and looking at the feedback and submissions that had been received decided to really incorporate and focus on the current legislation or the legislation that was coming very soon such as the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act and the Patient Safety (Notifiable Incidents and Open Disclosure) Act so at no time did the committee consider assisted dying.
