When we do the comparison of living standards between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, there is a tendency to say we have found a figure to show that one is better than the other. The situation is far more complex. It is better to look at particular family types and households. It depends on whether we are comparing the environment in rural or urban areas, North and South.
