As I said to the Deputy, what if he has another close friend who says they do not want to go through another period of their life? The Deputy is not quite heeding or acknowledging the centrality and identity of the two cases. In both cases, a person is suffering situationally and wants to end their life. I do not think one can, from a point of view of logical consistency, put forward the proposal that legislators should allow for the termination of one person’s life without logically addressing the other person’s life.
