There was testimony of potentially four suicides. This problem is real and significant. The cost is being counted in bricks, mortar and materials, but the human impact will have considerable long-term effects. If we are looking at a 40-year trajectory for the remediation of all the homes, adding to the scheme’s complexity is just putting oil on the fire.
