Tenant In Situ Process: Discussion
Mr. Coil?n O'Reilly:
A Dublin local authority, for instance, cannot buy property in Kildare. Local authorities cannot buy and manage properties in other local authorities' areas. It is not the done thing. It is better if local authorities work in collaboration. For example, we would speak to Kildare County Council about it acquiring the house. If a Kildare tenant came to Dublin city, we would acquire the property as a quid pro quoand take him or her under our wing as a Dublin City Council housing tenant. This is how the process works at the moment. We engage on a case-by-case basis with other local authorities and see how we can solve the issue for the person.
