Say for example, in Ballinasloe we have a Day Hospital but our addiction supports only apply if a person has alcohol addiction with mental health issues. I know we are speaking about mental health but we also have many young people who have addiction as their primary issue. If a person is diagnosed and their addiction is primary as opposed to their mental health, he or she does not get to access those supports. There are pilot addiction and alcohol programmes in Galway. It would be great to see those rolled out more in other towns.
