I have managed patients with chronic symptoms from Lyme disease for many years. Many of the protocols I have put together for long Covid patients are based on my experience there. Johns Hopkins has done studies using PET scans on patients with persistent symptoms of Lyme disease, called post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome. When PET scans were done on the brains of patients with chronic Lyme disease, the scans lit up the exact same abnormalities. This is a study by Aucott et alin Johns Hopkins University's research centre. There are similarities there and there are some abnormalities being picked up with ME as well. I am not aware of PET scan abnormalities in ME but with long Covid and long Lyme there are many similarities on the PET scan radiographic appearances.
