General Scheme of the Agricultural and Food Supply Chain Bill 2022: Discussion

The witnesses are welcome. With regard to the new body that is being set up and the CCPC, is there any change at present? Our understanding, from talking to the Minister last week, is that the body is not allowed to talk about price. It can compare with other places in Europe, for example, what cattle are making in the beef sector. It is basically nearly trying to embarrass someone, rather than being able to put the foot down with regard to price. I note that when the farming organisations to which the CCPC referred earlier met in the task force, it was very quick to send a letter that nobody could talk about price. Is that still the case from the CCPC's reading of the new regulator that will be set up, in that, basically, a farmer is no better off when it comes to talking about price?
