Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health
Vaginal Mesh Implants: Discussion
Mr. Robert Kidd:
I will come in first and I will bring in Dr. Murphy second. One of the issues for us, and we have heard the testimony by the women affected through a number of the members here, is the significant learnings from the response to the recommendations that we have put in place across a number of headings. That is recognised and we need to hear that. I have heard that from a number of the members and from the women affected. That is something we need to take on board. It has always been our intention that after the set up of the service and that operational response we would have a national oversight group in place to look at the service in terms of what we have put in place and what learnings we can take from that, as well as the learning from today and from our engagements with the groups. On the specific question around lifting the pause, the intention around that oversight group was to look at whether that would be appropriate. I might ask Dr. Murphy to come in on the mechanics of that.
