From constituents and others right across the country who have contacted us, we have all heard about the difficulties faced by parents of children living in Ireland and the hurdles they have to overcome to obtain guardianship. The process can kick off only after two years, as she outlined. What can we do in the meantime? Is she suggesting we should amend the Guardianship of Infants Act immediately to facilitate those who are already here while we continue with our deliberations and allow for the enactment of any consequent legislation?
