Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach

Withdrawal from Irish Banking Market: Engagement with Ulster Bank and KBC Ireland

Mr. Frank Jansen:

By my calculation, that will be at the end of August 2023. I might add, as I said earlier, that this is a learning process. We have said we will be flexible and take into account the needs of our customers. We will learn how this works. We will give six months to our customers and adapt the volume of customers to whom we will give notice as a function of what we see happening through the cycle, if I may call it. We have not set a fixed date. We have a plan that leads us to the end of August next year, but if we see that it does not work or that there is a problem, we will try to resolve that. If needs be, we will adapt the timing of the notice periods and the number of customers to whom we will give notice throughout the period.
