Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health

New National Maternity Hospital: Discussion (Resumed)

Mr. Peter Boylan:

I know. I will make the point, however, that the hospital will be owned by St. Vincent's. The Sisters of Charity are concerned about the loss of their voluntary status if they gift the land to the State or if the State buys it, but Tallaght hospital is a voluntary hospital on land not owned by Tallaght but on State land. That sort of arrangement is perfectly feasible. As I said, at a stroke of a pen, it would sort everything out.
