I listened to what Dr. Henchion said regarding GP services. Looking the hospital set-up, it is a hierarchical situation involving consultants, etc. The difficulty is that if the senior clinician is in that position, I would imagine there would be an impact. The senior clinician has priority in the context of theatre time. It is also difficult for junior staff to be filling that gap or going against the conscientious objection of that individual. One can imagine the tension and the difficulty that creates within the system.
