I do not know that I ever knew that it was formally an open-ended secondment. I did understand that the CMO did not intend to return to his post. I understand completely why that was, because he obviously did not want his successor to feel that somehow he was only a temporary person. He wanted to make that clear. That does not mean that the secondment could not have ended and for him to be assigned to another role. I do not know what would have happened in that situation.
