That technology is there. I accept the 50 electronic tags the Irish Prison Service obtained a number of years ago may require this type of legislation but technology has moved on. I do not think there is a need for this provision in the context of the type of technology that is now available. If we can monitor tractors and trailers using equipment that does not require a base station, surely we can do the same with sex offenders. I will leave it with the Minister and she might consider it further.
