A person cannot even go to the police because he is sitting on her or his avenue. To get an issue fixed, one is going to see him or see somebody else. Two republicans from Ardoyne and the two Protestant paramilitaries sat on that particular partnership. Nobody could go to the district policing board to make a complaint. A person might complain about some kids on the street or wee lads with motorbikes and they were then dealing with those kids. Nobody wanted that on their conscience. If a person went to complain about the organisation, he or she was complaining to its members. It was the same in Ardoyne as it was in the Shankhill Road. We were all facing that. And then kids rebel or they join them.
