Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government

Social and Affordable Housing: Discussion

Mr. Barry O'Leary:

It is not particularly challenging; it is just maths. It is a little dull but one would consider the capital cost, the income and the ability of the borrower to repay the loan. It is the same as any other type of mortgage. There is nothing particularly challenging about it. The likelihood is that the cost of the home will still be lower than the cost of providing homes elsewhere in Dublin or Dún Laoghaire. It depends on the situation.
