Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government
Social and Affordable Housing: Discussion
Mr. Barry O'Leary:
From our perspective, we think the differences are clear. As I said, we are around 40 year at this stage and it is quite clear what we provide. Looking at what we have loaned over the past couple of years and approved to be drawn down in the next few years, approved housing bodies and local authorities should be quite clear in what they will get from us, which is cheap long-term finance. The HBFI will speak for itself but it occupies a different niche in the market, as does the Land Development Agency. We are small and we deliver a product, but it is quite clear what we deliver. There is no issue there.
