I concur with Senator Fitzpatrick in her praise for Ms Foley and the work on Moore St. It has been fantastic to get to that point and it has been tenacious, painstaking work. It is great that the Senator has acknowledged that.

On bringing this legislation forward, I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. Many people have put much work into this over a long period and it is quite exciting.

I will ask others to come in on penalties but on the registry of monuments, the Senator mentioned Mountjoy Square. I met with the Mountjoy Square Residents Association and Dublin Civic Trust a number or weeks ago. Considering the railings surrounding the square, the blown-glass lanterns and other features of the square, it is one of the finest squares in Dublin and is suffering from neglect. We are fortunate to have a residents association that shares a vision of what it could be over time if the right level of care was put in by all agencies. The Senator mentioned other locations and sites in Dublin, which could be replicated across the country. Mountjoy Square has immense potential if the vision is there to support what the residents association is trying to do.

I ask Mr. Carpenter to come in on penalties and the benchmarking for those fines etc.
