The witnesses did not give any indication in their opening statement as to the ultimate fate of the non-performing loan book. Many customers are understandably anxious about the entity that will hold their mortgage accounts. Will the witnesses outline the value and number of accounts in the bank's non-performing mortgage loan book? Can they provide an outline of their make-up by way of the year in which they first fell into arrears and the number that has been restructured? Is it the bank's intention to sell this loan book to a retail bank or to an aggressive vulture fund?
