Seanad Committee on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union
Impact of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement: Economic and Social Research Institute
Dr. Martina Lawless:
----- current issues under negotiation are in respect of the continuation of the grace periods that have been in place for grocery and agricultural products. I do not see that there should be such a dramatic change in what happens with Great Britain to Northern Ireland trade coming from the current negotiations of the protocol and every single detail of it. Largely, there have been grace periods in checks for grocery and other particular products and the current negotiations are to keep those in place permanently, whereas they had been due to expire.
