Committee on Budgetary Oversight
Pre-Budget 2022 Scrutiny (Resumed): Minister for Finance
Paschal Donohoe (Dublin Central, Fine Gael) | Oireachtas source
The corporate tax regime that we have at the moment has been capable of yielding really significant increases in corporate tax revenue over the last number of years, much of which has been used to invest in capital expenditure or to try to respond to the social needs that we have currently. I believe the corporate tax structure that we have at the moment is effective in meeting the needs to which the Deputy has referred. Some of the broader matters to which he has referred can only be addressed on a global level. That is why the work of the OECD is important. We have yet to make a decision as to whether Ireland can be part of the final agreement. Currently, we are not, but we remain committed to the process and we are working on these matters as we speak.
