The Tánaiste was clear and at pains to point out the intention to protect people's wage growth from additional tax. The Minister has said the Government wants to do that as much as possible, which is different to what the Tánaiste said. It is also completely different from the commitment in the programme for Government which promised an index link to earnings growth. Given the fact that would cost €681 million, which is close to half of all the allocation that is available, and given the fact we have crises in health, housing, the cost of living and the cost of energy, is the Minister seriously still talking about that type of package for wage growth?
