There is a saying in Irish - "tá a fhios ag madraí an bhaile." The dogs in the street know how Part 8 is being used. I am suggesting publicly in this committee that IHREC investigate immediately whether Part 8 is being used in this way. It is interesting that FLAC mentioned this as well. I suggest that IHREC investigate the incidence of Part 8 refusals by councils of recommendations relating to Traveller accommodation or where the sale of land is taking place to provide that accommodation through voluntary housing associations, which is an equal and new way of stymying implementation. If I am right, and I am 100% confident and I think most members of the committee would accept that I will be proven right, I suggest IHREC make a firm recommendation to the Government that, in the interests of equality and what we said here about what was in that report by Fr. Mícheál Mac Gréil, the law be changed forthwith to deal with the Part 8 issue.
