General Scheme of the Birth Information and Tracing Bill 2021: Discussion (Resumed)
Ms Sinéad Gibney:
The statutory timeframes we are recommending are to make sure there are no more delays for people than what they have already experienced. We have not specified a specific timeframe but it is important that whatever the administrative processes involved are, they are clarified and clear expectations are set in terms of how long these requests will take and that those timeframes are then met. That is really important. There are other areas in which you can take precedent for such requests and potentially use them as models for setting those timeframes. Is that what Senator Seery Kearney is referring to?
