Anaerobic digestion definitely has a role to play in a wider range of areas referred to by the Deputy, such as mitigating emissions and providing an opportunity for farmers to supply produce to anaerobic digesters and get a return from it. The barrier to increased engagement in it is the funding for setting up and providing input into the digester and an economic return for the output. The Deputy referred to the level across the EU.
