Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2021: Committee Stage (Resumed)
Michael Healy-Rae (Kerry, Independent) | Oireachtas source
Why is the Government not doing something to help our farmers and let them see that they are being credited for the work they have done and that our forestry industry is being credited? It is fine for the Minister of State to say he agrees with me, but why not do something about it? Why not make this a valuable, tangible asset such that carbon credits are attributed to farms that are helping our environment? Rather than being down on our farmers all the time, why not encourage them, say they are doing something good and put a monetary value on what we call their carbon credits?
