Our old pastures are different for carbon storage than newer pastures. The theory, as I understand it, is that the more productive a pasture is at growing grass then the more carbon it will sequester. That is the theory. We will do a good bit of research in this area over the coming years and how that might be modulated by deep rooting species, as one might have in a multi-species sward. That is one of the questions we will have to answer, but in general the new, more productive pasture will sequester more than an older, unimproved pasture.
