Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health

Update on the Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic: National Public Health Emergency Team

Dr. Ronan Glynn:

NPHET can certainly advocate for that more broadly. It is what we would like to see from the various sectors and we can communicate with colleagues across government. In many instances, the measures taken by individual retailers or individual businesses across the country have been on a voluntary basis and on the basis of buying into the need to protect each other. I hope that will continue and that people will see the value of doing that as a contribution to the wider efforts to reduce transmission. However, I take the Senator's point that, perhaps, we need to stress more vocally the need for the basic measures to be strengthened, refreshed and continued over the coming months.
