Impact of Covid-19 on the Hospitality Sector: Discussion
Mr. Adrian Cummins:
There should be a doubling of the CRSS payment. We have fixed costs in our industry and the grant only covers 50% of where we are now. This means that each business is treading water and that some are being pushed into the liquidation zone. From our internal research and data, we can see that 50% of businesses are on the brink of collapse because of an outstanding build-up of debt acquired over the past number of years. The measures must also look at the restart grant and commercial rates waivers must go to the end of this year. The VAT rate must be kept until 2025. These are the key elements that must be included in Government policy.
