Eradication of Bovine Tuberculosis: Discussion

Mr. Eoin Ryan:

I will preface my remarks by saying there are many technical questions about TB and they come up very frequently. Well before Covid 19, we had a lot of public meetings and meetings with farm organisations. We were in village halls and spoke to co-ops and local authorities. We speak to anybody who seeks a meeting and we try to provide as much information as we can. We have a range of leaflets which, of course, we do not physically give out now due to the pandemic but they are on the website. We have videos on the Department's channel on YouTube. We have a list of frequently asked questions. Many of these questions come up again and again and we try to provide information because it is confusing for farmers when suddenly they are hit with all of this stuff coming from all sides.

To answer the specific questions, cattle to cattle spread of TB has been conclusively shown. It has been shown many times over the years.
