Banking Matters: Discussion

I will answer the Chair's questions first.
We have engaged with the Minister for Finance and the Minister of State with responsibility for banking and insurance since the announcement was made. We have had a number of meetings where we outlined our concerns, much as we did to this committee, and highlighted the areas. At that stage, we felt and still believe that the bank could be saved. We made those representations to the Minister, met with him last Friday morning after the announcement was made and reinforced our position regarding the points we raised around work following the transfer of loans, compulsory redundancy issues and a moratorium on branch closures during the pandemic.
