Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs

Brexit Issues: Members of the House of Commons

Mr. Hilary Benn:

I am sure that all five of us, despite having different views on different subjects, would agree with those sentiments about the importance of strengthening further the relationship we have. As this is the end of the formal session, we look forward as individual parliamentarians to seeing the committee in the future, although I should, in fairness, point out that the select committee of which we are members ceases to exist on 16 January 2021, because it was re-established with a different name after the general election and was given a shelf life of a year. I am sure that Parliament will discuss what future scrutiny arrangements will be, but in one form or another, all of us look forward to seeing all the members on occasions in the months and years ahead as we take that relationship forward.
