I can almost accept the principle of engaging somebody who, apparently, knows what he or she is doing in terms of managing property and dealing with many people. That was the scenario, yet we found out that even the basic human right to get an education was not factored in. In one instance, children went for months without any education. In another, after the Department had gone through this professional body, the residents were lumped onto a bus and taken from one end of the county to the other for a weekend to facilitate a wedding. I would have thought that if we were spending this amount of money on a professional service, the minimum the Department would ensure is that those basic mistakes could not be made. If someone was acting as an intermediary and earning substantial money, there should be a reasonable standard to which he or she is expected to adhere.
