I know hindsight is great but a significant amount of money has gone into private hospitals’ hands. At the time, the Government acted because it saw what was happening across mainland Europe. As the Minister said, however, there are significant question marks as to whether this was cost effective for the taxpayer. When all of the dust settles on Covid-19, questions will be asked about the amount of money that was given to private hospitals because these are run by some very wealthy people who have done very well out of this deal. There are significant questions as to what we got back as taxpayers. As the Minister has said himself, this was wrong deal.
