I am sure the Minister also received the same correspondence as us today.. Many nurses have been in contact with all of us regarding their annual Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, NMBI, registration charge. As a teacher, I had to pay something similar each year to the Teaching Council and one would bemoan it when one would see this letter coming in. On top of all they do in the workplace, teachers have to pay this charge to be officially recognised. Nurses feel that the charge this year has come at a time they are giving everything on the front line. The charge is €100 whereas their counterparts in Scotland have been given a £500 gratuity. Has the Department been engaging with NMBI to look at that charge for the year it is in terms of potentially waiving it?
