I have a couple of issues with the response received regarding the breakdown of high-dependency patients in public and private nursing homes. In its response, the HSE said it does not centrally retain details of the dependency levels of residents in either public or private nursing homes. I imagine information of that nature should be available to the HSE. Is there any particular reason for not retaining it? It should be a matter of interest to the HSE given its role in the fair deal scheme and public nursing homes. I suggest we ask the HSE if it could keep these records in a way that does not interfere with personal data. It is the type of information that should be collected by the HSE.
