Covid-19: The Situation in Meat Processing Plants
Mr. Cormac Healy:
Every case will be individual. We agreed with SIPTU earlier this week that the testing and protocols around closures have twin objectives. Those are worker safety and continuity of production. We have to find a way through and the best way through is more testing and rapid results. If there is an extreme situation, such as in the one plant that we represent of the four that are affected at the moment, which has been closed down for a considerable time now, closing it down causes problems for everyone in the supply chain so we have to find a way where businesses can continue and workers are safe. That is a testing regime with rapid results.
