Special Committee on Covid-19 Response
Covid-19: The Situation in Meat Processing Plants
Mr. Greg Ennis:
I do not know if it needs that much explanation. If one is told someone is coming to one's house for an evening dinner, one will probably have the kitchen clean and food cooked. If a person arrives hungry to one's door, however, and one has nothing prepared, there may be a bit of a scramble around the house. We have to ensure inspections are unannounced because that means workers and, more importantly, employers will be on their toes with regard to the provision of personal protection equipment, PPE, and the necessary safety standards that are desirable in any workplace.
