That Mr. Watt, as a senior civil servant, would give such direct advice to those concerned on broadband is to be admired but their continuing to ignore that advice must surely be disappointing for him and his officials. I am not trying to draw him into a conflict, I am trying to understand how anyone could put €3 billion, or whatever the sum is, into a project and not own any part at the end or get any real return on it. The taxpayer loses out again.

I wish to single out the HSE. Every time I get an opportunity, here or at meetings of the Committee of Public Accounts, I ask about the financial IT system. The HSE does not have a single IT system that can do all that is supposed to be done.
