Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality
General Scheme of the Criminal Justice (Victims of Crime) (Amendment) Bill 2018: Discussion
Ms Caroline Counihan:
It depends. Quite often when victims of historical sexual violence think they might report, there is no particular urgency because it happened so long ago but, at the other extreme, there are situations where people have been the victims of a recent and traumatic rape and they are absolutely at sea and do not know what to do but they must make decisions fast.
