However, I reiterate that it is such a fundamental decision that if they are not doing it already, I would support a reminder in the system that parents should be encouraged to take legal advice. If the legal advice is that it is an area that parents would not want to go to, perhaps they would rather be in a court supervised system. The care system has to be completely overseen and transparent. Arguably, despite significant discussion around guardians ad litemin the court, perhaps the children in the voluntary consent situations are the ones who have a different requirement.
